Las Hermanas Ortega, 2005

Through this piece, I am interested in exploring issues of the oral tradition and change over time in the construction of historical narrative for and by a particular place or people. The setting for the piece is a small town in the West Texas desert, and as such the piece also will address some conventions of small town life, specifically the large and often problematic differences between public and private (familial) life.   7min.

Lloronas, 2004

Screened as part of “Inordinate Coordinates,” Gallery 1926, Chicago, Illinois, February 2004. A video that looks at the mythological character of the Llorona in Mexican- American culture and the deteriorations and mutations of myth and character over time. 8 min.
